I'm not the kind of person who plans ahead, but I've been incredibly lucky to be able to pursue design as a career. When I moved to Australia for my studies 15 years ago, I didn't know that I would make Melbourne my home and eventually be granted PR as well.
This year, I've made a goal for myself to create things that feel true to me. Although I love designing, most of the times I'm designing for other people. With the emergence of AI, I thought I'd lost my chance to pursue illustration as a career... but now it has become clear to me that the sentiment around AI generated image in general has been negative, at least for some people. I've been pushed to use it as well in my day job and I find it super frustrating to work with.
The funny thing is, it made me realise that human made art are here to stay. or at least just because some random start-up dude telling that AI art is better, doesn't mean that it is or it will be. I told myself, why don't I try to make this illustration career a thing!
Honestly, I still don't know where this thing is going to take me, but I feel super excited about what's ahead of me.
